Bolton Pride is now a regular, embedded event in the town and the residents are proud of its part of the Bolton yearly calendar. The team who first brought us the Bolton pride event in 2015 worked night and day to ensure it was not only a  success but something the whole town could be proud of.

Bolton sadly has always been quoted in the media as one of the most homophobic towns/cities in the U.K. So the creation of Bolton Pride was very important was in fact groundbreaking.

James Edgington who created the event along with  Mark Geary and others did us a great service in fighting for funding and involvement to this event when it was created, and even now James battles on to ensure it happens and is an event worthy of praise and approval by all townsfolks.

2015 I shall always recall with joy and pride as Sir Ian McKellen, Bolton boy, did us the great honour of being Patron and Grand Marshall; he also presented the awards for our community and I was thrilled to meet him and be awarded the first ever LGBT Champion award for my work around the NHS/Healthcare and breaking down barriers for our community.

It was a special night indeed and the first of many wonderful annual Pride events in Bolton.
